Streak Continues For Roughrider Nine

The Roughrider baseball team won their 18th consecutive game Saturday afternoon, 7-5, over Glendale Community College in Glendale. The Roughrider nine is chasing the record of 26 straight victories set in 2005. YC is now 32-5 overall and 15-5 in ACCAC play. Glendale falls to 18-22 on the year and 7-15 in the conference standings.

Once again, YC came from behind for the victory. Yavapai was up 3-0 in the top of the third before giving up three runs in the bottom half of the inning and two more in the bottom of the fourth. The Roughriders scored one run in their half of the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth to take the lead and tacked on an insurance run in the top of the eighth.

Kamalu Kamoku (3-0) got the victory in 5.1 innings pitched and Chance Adams got the final out for his first save of the year.

Offensively, YC had 15 hits, 12 of those hits were by four players. Drew Turbin was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in. Tim Arakawa was 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 1 run batted in. Humberto Aranda was 3 for 5 with an RBI and Stephen Carbajal was 3 for 5.

On Tuesday, April 2nd the Roughriders look to gain ground on league leader #11 ranked Central Arizona College (29-7, 16-4) as both teams play a doubleheader in Casa Grande. The twinbill will start at 12:00 PM.
