Roughriders, Aztecs Split
The Roughrider softball team split a key doubleheader with conference nemesis Pima Community College Tuesday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field, 3-2 and 3-14. Yavapai is now 21-12 overall and 17-9 in ACCAC action. Pima has a 20-14 record on the year and a 14-10 conference mark.

Mita Cortez layed down a perfect bunt to advance Heimburg to second. Kasey Oliver doubled to left center to push across the winning run.
Heimburg, Jade Yost and Sam Wilson each had two hits. Oliver was 1 for 4 with two RBI’s.
Aundria Zuniga-Romero pitched a stellar game allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out five.
The Roughrider bats fell silent in the nightcap with only 6 hits in the run-rule shortened game. Heimburg led the way going 3 for 3 with a double and a triple.
Sarah Thompson took the loss in relief of Zuniga-Romero.
