Softball Splits On Road

The Roughrider softball team split a road twinbill against the defending NJCAA DII National Champions Phoenix College, 7-6 and 4-6 Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix. YC is now 16-11 overall and 12-8 in conference play. PC goes to 15-9 on the year and 15-9 in ACCAC action.

In the opener, YC used three runs in their half of the seventh inning to outlast the Bears. Brandi Heimburg was 2 for 4. Jade Yost was also 2 for 4 with 2 runs batted in. Brooke Eifert-Pancamo was also 2 for 4.

Aundria Zuniga-Romero went the distance for the victory scattering 6 hits and striking out five.

In the nightcap, YC played catchup all game scoring 4 runs in their half of the fourth to cut the deficit to 1. However, that was all the runs the Riders could muster. Taylor Riesgo led the team going 3 for 4 with an RBI. Kasey Oliver was 2 for 3.

Yavapai plays at Paradise Valley Community College on Thursday, March 14th before returning to Bill Vallely Field on Saturday, March 16th against the same Paradise Valley Team. That doubleheader will start at 12:00 PM at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott.
