Baseball Extinguishes Firestorm

The Roughrider baseball team took a break from ACCAC play Thursday afternoon for a single 9-inning game against the visiting Firestorm from Arizona Christian University. YC won the game 13-5 to improve to 13-3 on the season.

Nick Sagendorf got the victory allowing three runs and striking out four.

Offensively, Chris Burks was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Tim Arakawa was 2 for 3 with 2 triples, 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Kyle Toth was 2 for 4 with 3 runs knocked in. Austin Orth was 2 for 5 with 2 ribbies. Krysthian Leal, Brandon Matthews, Stephen Carbajal and Justin McMurrey each had two hits.

Yavapai resumes conference action on Saturday entertaining the #3 ranked team in the nation, Cochise College (15-5, 6-2). The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
