Softball Drops Two
The Roughrider softball team dropped a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the hands of fellow ACCAC Division I foe Eastern Arizona College, 10-2 and 6-1 . YC is now 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the ACCAC.
In the opener, Yavapai was outmuscled by the Gila Monsters as the opponent hit 4 home runs against the Roughrider pitching including a grand slam in the 5-run third inning. YC closed the margin in the fifth inning with two runs but EAC put four on the board in their half of the fifth.
The Roughriders had three players with two hits a piece (Alma Cortez, Val Luera, Brooke Eifert-Pancoma). Kasey Oliver had a single hit driving in the only two Roughrider runs.
In the second game Yavapai could not overcome a 4-run first inning from the Gila Monsters. Offensivel Eifert-Pancoma provided the only offense with a solo home run in top half of the second inning.
