The Roughrider softball team split a pair of games Saturday with a come-from-behind victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College in the morning, 16-8 and fell to Snow College in the afternoon, 5-1.
YC found themselves down 7-0 going into their half of the first inning but responded with four runs of their own in their half of the frame. The game was tied at 8 after two full innings of play and Sarah Thompson shut the opponent batters down the remainder of the game to get the run-rule shortened victory, her first of the year.
Hannah Hill had the big bat going 3 for 3 with two home runs, a triple, 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Brandi Heimburg was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Jade Yost was 2 for 3 with 3 runs knocked in on a double and home run.
In the nightcap, the Riders only managed 2 hits in the rain-delayed game. Aundria Zuniga-Romero took the loss throwing all 7 innings striking out 3 batters.
YC concludes the Kickoff tournament on Sunday playing Colorado Northwestern again and North Idaho College.
