Soccer ends season with 21-3-0 record

The Roughrider soccer team fell short of their 20th NJCAA National Tournament appearance Friday afternoon losing to Northwest College, WY 4-2 in the NJCAA West District Playoffs. YC concludes the season with a 21-3-0 record (517-43-18 all-time). Northwest (16-6-0) advances to the NJCAA West District Championship match Saturday afternoon and to the NJCAA National Tournament beginning on November 12th in Albany, Georgia. This marks the first time in 20 West District tournament appearances Yavapai lost a match. Since 1990, the Roughriders captured district titles in St. Louis, Kansas City, Dallas, Couer d’Alene (Idaho) and numerous times in Arizona.

The Roughriders first goal of the day scored by Kyle Morris, was the 100th goal of the season. Yavapai has scored 101 goals on the year and given up only 19.

This Sophomore class, consisting of co-captains Sam Cusack and Carlos Lara; goalkeepers Danny Sellitti and Augustin Rey; as well as Julien Dragomir, Frankie Halley, Eddie Jasso, Kyle Morris, Rysen Barnett and Joey Lutostanski finish their two-year career with a 40-4-3 record.
