FORMER ROUGHRIDER LEADS UNITED STATES NATIONAL TEAM
United States National Team forward Alan Gordon earned his first cap with the national team in a 2-1 victory over Antigua & Baruda. In the closing minute of regulation, the United States got the vital goal and three points when Alan Gordon, inside the penaly area, hit a one-timed cross to the left post to a darting Eddie Johnson who headed it back across the goal frame and into the right side past the Antigua & Barbuda goalkeeper.
The USA and Guatemala are tied for the group lead as the two teams head into their final match in the Semifinal Round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at 3:30 p.m. Arizona time on Tuesday, Oct. 16 (ESPN2) at sold-out Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
Gordon, an NSCAA All-America attacker, played for Yavapai College in 2000 and 2001 scoring 39 goals with 102 points.
