Volleyball Cruises On First Day Of Tourney

The Roughrider volleyball team pounded their opponents today at the Gulf Coast College Tournament in Florida. Yavapai defeated West Georgia Tech College in the first match of the day, 3-0 (25-6, 25-4, 25-4). Lauren Bevan paced the lady spikers with 13 kills.
Natalie Fahey had 8 kills and 1 block. Libby Ary had 25 assists and Becca Long added 10 assists. Hannah Hill had a team high 11 aces. MacKenzie Hamilton anchored the defense with 5 digs.

In the final match of the day, head coach Matt Cohen’s team defeated Andrew College, GA 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-15). Bevan added 7 kills, 3 aces and 7 digs to her day. Ary got 16 assists and 2 aces. Fahey contributed 5 kills, 4 aces and 1.5 blocks.

YC concludes the tournament on Saturday against Southern Union State Community College, AL and the host team Gulf Coast College, FL. Yavapai will resume conference play on Wednesday, October 17th against Scottsdale Community College at Walraven Gym on the Yavapai College campus. The first serve will be at 7:00 PM.
