YC Spikers Perfect In Cali
The Roughrider volleyball team concluded their California trip with a 3-game sweep Saturday at the Imperial Valley College Tournament. YC is now 15-3 on the season.
In the first match of the day, the lady spikers beat College of the Desert 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-19). Casey Johnson led the team with 9 kills and 9 digs. Natalie Fahey added 7 kills. The playmakers, Libby Ary and Rebecca Long had 17 and 12 assists respectively. Ary added 5 aces. Jordan Lopez anchored the defense with 11 digs. Hannah Hill and Jen Sadler each had 2 blocks with hill also getting 10 digs.
In the second match, Yavapai beat a strong Mt. San Jacinto team 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-12). Fahey led the squad with 9 kills and added 3 blocks. Sadler, Johnson and Liz Culhane each had 7 kills. Johnson added 6 aces and 9 digs. Ary recorded 32 assists.
In the final match of the trip, YC outlasted Chaffey College 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20). Fahey and Sadler each had 10 kills. Hill and Culhane contributed 6 kills a piece. Hill also had 11 digs to lead the lady Riders and Culhane had 3 blocks. Ary had 33 assists. Johnson had 10 digs and Lopez got 8 digs.
YC returns to ACCAC action on Wednesday, September 19th when they entertain Mesa Community College. The first serve will be at 7:00 PM in Walraven Gym.
