Gila Monsters Bite Spikers

The Roughrider volleyball team stumbled Wednesday night before an enthusiastic home crowd against the visiting Gila Monsters from Eastern Arizona College (3-5, 2-1) losing to the visitors 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 14-25, 12-25). YC falls to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in the ACCAC.

Natalie Fahey led the Rider attack with 12 kills and 3 blocks. Lauren Bevan was useful with 11 kills. The playmaker Libby Ary had 21 assists before succumbing to an injury. Rebecca Long had 9 assists. Jordan Lopez once again anchored the defense with 11 digs. Jen Sadler contributed 5 kills and 2 blocks.

Yavapai returns to the court in a non-conference tournament at Scottsdale Community College on Friday and Saturday. YC will face New Mexico Military Institute, College of Eastern Utah, Pima Community College, Phoenix College and Glendale Community College. The lady spikers will return to conference play when they host Mesa Community College on Wednesday, September 19th. The first serve will be at 7:00 PM.
