YC Sweeps ‘Da Bears’

In a rare Labor Day match, the Roughrider volleyball team beat their third ranked opponent this year by sweeping the Bears from Phoenix College Monday night in Walraven Gym, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-17). YC is now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the ACCAC standings. Phoenix falls to 2-5 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.

In all three games, the lady spikers had to rally after falling behind early. The Roughriders were led by the playmaker, Libby Ary who recorded 29 assists, 2 kills and 1 ace. Lauren Bevan had 10 kills and two service aces. Jen Sadler added 7 kills and Jordan Lopez had 12 digs.

Yavapai plays host to #8 Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday, September 5th. The Gila Monsters are the defending NJCAA Division I Region I Champions and finished 8th at the National Tournament a year ago. The first serve will be at 7:00 PM in Walraven Gym.
