Matadors Gore Riders

For the first time since 2009 the Roughriders have lost in Yuma. YC fell to the Matadors from Arizona Western College, 7-1 Friday afternoon to fall to 30-15 overall and 21-8 in ACCAC action. Arizona Western improves to 29-17 on the season and 18-11 in conference play.

Offensively, the Roughriders stranded 8 on base and struck out 10 times while managing only 1 run on 8 hits. Drew Turbin and Tyler Urps each had two hits.

Ryan Petersen (6-4) took the loss throwing six innings and striking out five opponent hitters.

These same two teams finish the two-game series on Saturday in Yuma in a nine-inning single game. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM. YC returns to the friendly confines of Roughrider Park on Tuesday, April 17th to host South Mountain Community College.
