Softball Splits Twinbill With Gila Monsters

The Roughrider softball team split a home doubleheader Tuesday with fellow Division I opponent Eastern Arizona College, 1-7 and 5-3. YC is now 41-7 overall and 29-4 in ACCAC action. EAC improves to 35-15 on the season and 27-8 in league play.

In the first game, the Roughrider offense never got started getting only two hits on the afternoon. From the circle, Estela Pinon (13-2) was roughed up for six runs in four innings. Ashleigh Seipel was 1 for 3 and scored the only run for the Riders. Tessa Fanning was 1 for 2 with a run batted in.

Yavapai bounced back in the late game with Kat Macias picking up the victory from the mound. Seipel was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Brittany McCray was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Alexis Lawton was 1 for 2 with a run scored and a run batted in.

Yavapai entertains Central Arizona College on Saturday, April 7th. IN their prior meeting in February, YC swept a doubleheader from the Vaqueras in Casa Grande, 5-2 and 6-0. Saturday’s event will start at 12:00 PM.
