Baseball Splits With Aztecs
The Roughrider baseball team split a road doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in Tucson against Pima Community College (14-11, 6-6). YC blanked the Aztecs in the first game 12-0 and fell in the nightcap 13-9. YC remains in first place with a 10-2 ACCAC mark.
The Roughrider bats came alive in the first game pounding out 14 hits led by Tim Arakawa who went 3 for 5. Josh Tate and Krysthian Leal each had two hits and two runs batted in. Jordan Negrini was 2 for 3 with a run knocked in and Aaron Blair was 1 for 4 with two RBI’s.
Blair Goldsack got his second victory of the year throwing all seven innings and striking out 10 Aztec batters.
In the late game, the fielding fell apart for the Riders as they committed 4 errors. Peter Lindstrohm took the loss giving up ten runs only six earned.
Offensively, Tyler Urps was 4 for 4 with one run batted in. Leal was 3 for 5 with three ribbies and Arakawa was 2 for 5 with two runs knocked in.
YC plays at Eastern Arizona College on Friday and Saturday in two single games.
