Baseball Splits With The Canucks

The Roughrider baseball team had their six-game winning streak snapped Wednesday afternoon at Roughrider Park in an 8-0 loss to the Wolfpack from Thompson Rivers University, Canada. YC outlasted the opponent in the late game winning 4-2 to earn the split. Yavapai is now 8-6 on the season.

The Roughrider only managed five meager hits in the first game with Austin O`Such getting two of those hits. Tyler Adams (0-2) took the loss from the mound.

In the second game, base running and untimely hitting cost the Roughriders multiple chances to score. However, in the fourth inning the home team broke a 2-2 tie on one hit and three opponent errors.

Jonathan Rodriguez was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Prescott native Humberto Aranda got the Roughriders on the board first with his first home run of his young collegiate career. Drew Turbin was 1 for 1 coming around to score the go ahead run.

Jordan Blaylock pitched three scoreless innings to gain his second victory of the year.

Yavapai returns ACCAC play on Saturday, February 25th at #1 ranked Central Arizona College (10-5, 2-2). The twinbill will start at 12:00 PM.
