Baseball Splits Friday
The Roughrider baseball team got their first win of the year Friday morning with a 5-3 victory over fellow conference foe Phoenix College but lost the nightcap to Glendale Community College, 3-2. YC is now 1-5 on the young season.

Phoenix College out-hit the Roughrider nine eight to seven, but the Bears stranded 11 runners on base.
Freshman infielder Drew Turbin went a perfect 2-2 at the dish with 2 runs knocked in.
Freshman pitcher Blair Goldsack got the victory on the mound pitching seven innings, scattering 6 hits and striking out 6 batters. Goldsack threw the final two innings to get the save.
The Yavapai runners swiped six bags on the day with Aaron Blair, Kyle Toth, Jonathan Rodriguez, and Kyle Young with one stolen base and Jordan Negrini had two stolen bases.
In the second game, Ryan Petersen was the hard-luck loser as he went the distance surrendering only three runs including the game-winner in the eighth inning. Timothy Arakawa had two hits and drove in the lone two runs for the Roughriders. YC managed only three hits on the afternoon.
