Redemption For Spikers

A day after falling to the Central Arizona College in five games, Yavapai got revenge with a five-game victory of their own over the Lady Vaqueras Wednesday night in Casa Grande, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12. Yavapai now owns an 8-10 overall record and have a 4-5 conference mark.

Lauren Bevan led the attack with 22 kills and LeAnna Lloyd added 15 kills. The architect, Libby Ary, had 50 assists. Defensively, Jordan Lopez had 19 digs. “Great win after a tough loss last night”, commented Head Coach Matt Cohen. “Very proud of the girls for fighting hard to win.”

Yavapai takes a break from league play as they travel to Colorado to participate in the Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, YC will play Dodge City CC, the host team Air Force Prep Academy and Colorado Christian College JV. On Saturday, the Riders play Barton CC and New Mexico Military Institute. Earlier in the season, Yavapai lost to Barton, 3-0 and beat NMMI 3-1. The lady spikers resume conference action on Wednesday, October 12th playing host to #7 ranked Chandler/Gilbert Community College (15-2, 8-1). The match will be played in Walraven Gym with the first serve at 7:00 PM.
