Soccer Squashes Geckos

Four second half goals lifted the first place Roughrider soccer team to a 5-0 victory over GateWay Community College Saturday night at Rose Mofford Park, the site of Yavapai’s 7th National Championship. YC is 6-0 at Rose Mofford Park including the three wins in the National Tournament in 2008. Yavapai improves their overall record to 7-0-2 and 6-0-2 in ACCAC play. GateWay falls to 2-6-0.

For the fifth time in the last six matches, Yavapai scored five or more goals. During that stretch, the Roughrider offense has scored a total of 35 goals and allowed only 7. Daniel Sellitti was in goal for all 90 minutes Saturday night and recorded the first shutout of the season.
