Soccer Outmuscles Matadors

The Roughrider soccer team beat #11 ranked Arizona Western College in a hard fought match Tuesday evening at Ken Lindley Field, 2-1. YC improves to 2-0-1 on the young season and the Matadors fall to 2-1-0. The Roughriders have a 44-2-0 all-time record against Arizona Western.

YC opened the scoring on the night in the 20th minute with Christopher Luu hitting it passed the goalkeeper on a pass from Kyle Morris. Western responded in the 34th minute to knot the score going into halftime. Shortly after intermission, Yavapai scored the game winner on a goal by Morris assisted by Stuart Bryant.

On Saturday, September 3rd Yavapai entertains #12 ranked Pima Community College. In three meetings last season, the Aztecs won twice. The match will be played at the Amphitheater in Prescott Valley. Kick-off will be at 6:00 PM. Admission is free.
