Roughrider Academic Awards

The Yavapai College athletic department is proud to announce that five Roughrider athletes were given the NJCAA 2010-11 Academic Student-Athlete Awards. Over 1,470 student-athletes nationwide met the criteria for the prestigious academic honor.

In order to be considered, the student-athlete must have completed three full-time semesters of college work and must have participated in at least one season.

Previously, the award was known as the Academic All-American Honor but the NJCAA changed the title to the following:

  • NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale)
  • NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement (3.80 to 3.99 on a 4.00 scale)
  • NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement (3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale)

The Roughriders named are:

  • Maranda Tapia (Softball) – 3.94 – Superior Academic Achievement
  • Dionte Goodlett (Men’s Basketball) – 3.88 GPA – Superior Academic Achievement
  • William Hammack (Soccer) – 3.89 – Superior Academic Achievement
  • Kirsten Lambertson (Softball) – 3.84 – Superior Academic Achievement
  • Jonathan Hawkins (Men’s Basketball) – 3.6 – Exemplary Academic Achievement
