Riders to Face Cougars; Three Players Honored

On Sunday, the Roughrider baseball team learned who their opponent would be in the first round of the NJCAA Region I Division I Baseball Playoffs. YC will be at #21 ranked South Mountain Community College Cougars with the winner advancing to the Championship Series on May 12-14 at the site of the highest seed.

In four meetings this season, Yavapai only managed one victory, a 5-1 win in Phoenix in February. South Mountain won the final three encounters by scores of 8-1, 6-5 and 1-0.

The first round is a best of three series with single games being played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, if necessary.

Thursday’s game will start at 3:00 PM.

For their efforts this season, Nolan Clark, Zak Miller and Josh Anderson honored with all-conference awards. All three players were named to the First Team All-ACCAC. Clark and Miller were named to the NJCAA Division I Region I First Team and Anderson made the NJCAA Division I Region I Second Team.
