In their final home games of the 2011 season, the Roughrider baseball team split a conference doubleheader with Eastern Arizona College (17-27, 9-22) Saturday afternoon at Roughrider Park. YC won the first game 10-7 and dropped the nightcap 9-8. Yavapai is now 32-20 overall and 20-14 in the ACCAC.

YC is now 7 games behind league leader Central Arizona College (39-11, 25-7) and 3 games behind second place South Mountain Community College (36-16, 23-11). The first and second place finishers in the conference will host the first round of the NJCAA Region I Division I playoffs with the #4 seed visiting the #1 seed and the #2 seed hosting the #3 seed.

In the opener Saturday, Yavapai erased a 5-run deficit with a seven run third inning to propel them to the win. Tony Vocca (9-3) got the victory in six innings pitched and Miguel Silva got his 11th save of the year.

Offensively, Tony Piazza was 3 for 4 with three runs batted in. Albert Alvarez and Josh Anderson each had two hits with Anderson driving in two runs.

In the nightcap, the Roughriders could not overcome an early 9-3 deficit despite posting runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Alex Miranda (3-5) gave up all nine runs in five innings pitched. Nolan Clark had the hot bat going 2 for 2 with two home runs. Jonathan Rodriguez was a perfect 3 for 3.

Yavapai will play their final four regular season games on the road beginning with a doubleheader at Phoenix College (14-34, 8-26) on Tuesday, April 26th. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM on the campus of Phoenix College.
