Sophomore catcher Kirsten Lambertson has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent with Cal State Fullerton. This season Lambertson is hitting .352 with 13 home runs and 46 RBI’s. As a freshman, the California native hit .352 with 2 home runs and 32 runs knocked in.
Head coach Stacy Iveson commented, “Kirsten has been a rock behind the plate for us the past two seasons. Kirsten is one of the most intelligent catchers that I have had the pleasure to coach. Her sense of the game and how to manage pitchers measures far beyond her years of experience. Kirsten has a tremendous work ethic both on the field and in the classroom (She has maintained a 3.89 GPA). Kirsten is certain to be successful at Fullerton. I am proud of what she has accomplished here at YC and look forward to following her career at the next level.”
Defensively, Lambertson has had no miscues. In 43 games this season, the human backstop has 219 put outs with no errors ranking her first in the NJCAA Division I fielding category.
Additionally by invitation of USA Baseball, Lambertson will be participating in the 2011 USA Baseball Women’s International Friendship Series held at the National Training Complex in Cary, NC on July 31st through August 7th.
Lambertson and the remainder of the Roughriders will be playing host to South Mountain Community College on Tuesday, April 19th and Arizona Western College on Saturday, April 23rd. Both doubleheaders will begin at 12:00 PM.
