Roughriders Swept At Home

The #13 Roughrider baseball team suffered their second consecutive doubleheader sweep Tuesday afternoon at Roughrider Park to #16 Central Arizona College, 7-2 and 15-5. YC is now 27-15 overall and 15-9 in ACCAC standings . Central Arizona (32-10, 18-6) catapults over the Roughriders into first place with these two victories.

In the opener, despite outhitting the opponent, the Roughriders failed to push runners across. Andrew Walter (4-4) pitched 6.1 innings and gave up four runs and struck out 7 in the loss.

Offensively, Jonathan Rodriguez was 3 for 4 and Nolan Clark was 2 for 3.

In the late game, YC had 12 hits as a team but could only cross the plate five times. Zak Miller (5-1) took his first loss of the year giving up 8 runs in 2.1 innings.

From the plate, Matt Wehrli was 3 for 4 with two runs batted in. Kenneth Gallegos and Rodriguez each had two hits.

Yavapai returns to the field on Saturday, April 9th hosting Arizona Western College. In February, YC swept a doubleheader in Yuma, 4-2 and 4-3. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM.
