Softball Continues To Surge

The #2 ranked Roughrider softball did not let a single opponent run cross the plate Saturday afternoon in Phoenix in a doubleheader sweep over South Mountain Community College, 8-0 and 7-0. YC is now 25-2 on the season and 15-1 in ACCAC action.

Estela Pinon pitched the Riders to victory in the first game hurling all five innings, striking out nine and scattering three hits. The freshman from Tucson was also 2 for 4 from the plate with a double and an RBI. Alex Landon was 3 for 3 with a run scored and a run batted in. Danielle Muniz had two doubles and three runs knocked in.

In the nightcap, Amelia Willadsen got her 13th victory of the season as she threw all seven innings recording three strikeouts and allowing four hits. Pinon, Landon and Vanessa House all homered for the lady hitters and Sierra Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Yavapai returns to the diamond on Tuesday, March 8th for a key Region I Division I matchup with Arizona Western College. The twinbill will be played in Yuma and will start at 12:00 PM.
