The trip to Coolidge is long enough but the results of the men’s and women’s basketball games made the trip even longer. Tuesday night, both hoops teams fell to Central Arizona College in the final regular season road game of the year. The women were crushed 94-65 and the men lost 80-64. The women are now 19-10 overall and 11-10 in ACCAC play. Mathematically, the lady cagers have clinched their 25th consecutive trip to the NJCAA Division I Region I Playoffs. With the loss, the men fall to 11-18 overall and 8-13 in the conference standings. With a victory on Friday over Eastern Arizona College, Yavapai will clinch their first trip to the Region I Playoffs since the 2004-05 season.
YC takes to the court for their final home game for both programs on Friday, February 25th. Due to budget constraints, both programs will be dropped following this season. Friday’s games will be against Eastern Arizona College. The game will be free admission for everyone and souvenir t-shirts will be given to the first 500 entrants. The women’s game will tip-off at 5:30 PM and the men will start at 7:30 PM.
