Lady Roughriders Beat Waukesha

Five Lady Roughrider hoopsters scored in double figures Tuesday afternoon in a 90-56 victory over UW-Waukesha in the final game of the Wells Fargo Classic in Yuma. YC has won all of their non-conference games this season and are currently 11-3 overall and 3-3 in ACCAC play. The 90 points is the highest output for the lady hoopsters this season.

Yavapai shot 49% from the field in the win and 41% (9-22) from behind the three-point line. Ashley Watkins led the team with 16 points and 4 steals. Antoinette Miller knocked in 15 points and grabbed a team high 7 rebounds. Ashley Wirtzberger scored all of her 12 points from behind the arc and Bernadette Sanchez and Tesla Morgan each chipped in 10 points.

Yavapai resumes conference play on Wednesday, January 5th at #20 Arizona Western College (13-1, 5-1). The last time these two met was in the 2010 NJCAA Division I Region I Play-offs in Prescott. The Matadors beat the Lady Riders, 74-70. Game time will be 5:30 PM on the campus of Arizona Western College in Yuma.
