Lady Riders Conquered By Aztecs

The Roughrider women’s basketball team dropped their third conference game of the season falling to #14 Pima Community College (7-2, 4-1), 76-74. Yavapai is now 6-3 overall and 2-3 in ACCAC action.

Defensive transition failed the Roughriders in the first half as the opponent cruised to a 41-33 halftime lead. However, YC battled back after intermission to take a two point lead with five minutes remaining. Pima pulled ahead in the waning moments to steal a victory from the home team.

Yavapai was led by the reigning ACCAC Player of the Week, Antoinette Miller. She scored 19 points, 17 in the second half, grabbed 12 rebounds, and had 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Kayla Williams had a monster first half scoring 14 of her 18 points. Ashley Watkins had 11 points on 4 for 5 shooting and 3 for 3 from the charity stripe. Jen Kelley and Ashley Ward each had 10 points.

YC travels to Glendale Community College for an ACCAC contest on Saturday, December 11th with tip-off slated for 2:00 PM.
