Cougars Beat Roughriders

The NJCAA Division II #3 ranked South Mountain Community College (9-0, 4-0) upended the Roughriders Saturday afternoon in Phoenix, 79-72. Yavapai falls to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in ACCAC action.

YC gave the nationally ranked opponent all they could handle led by Jordan Weir with 21 points. Dionte Goodlett add 17 points and 4 rebounds. JuWan Buchanon had 10 points and 8 rebounds and Jon Hawkins had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Poor shooting was the culprit for Yavapai shooting only 40% from the field while the opponent shot 43%.

The Riders return to action on Wednesday, December 8th hosting Pima Community College (3-6, 1-3) winners over Central Arizona College on Saturday, 87-82. The game will tip-off at 7:30 PM.
