VB Stumbles In Day Two

Playing against some stiff competition, the Roughrider volleyball team stumbled on day 2 of the Wyo-Braska Shootout in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. YC opened the day against Sheridan College, WY and fell in 4 games 25-15, 22-25, 24-26, and 23-25. Facing #3 ranked Western Nebraska Community College in game 2 of the day, YC fell in straight sets 20-25, 19-25, 14-25. In the final match of the day, the Lady Riders defeated Eastern Wyoming 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18.

Natasha Ray had a good day as she averaged 3.4 kills per game for the day. LeAnna Lloyd averaged 2.5 kills per game and 1.4 blocks per game and Sam Eastburn averaged 4.2 digs per game. Jessica Durbin and Rachel Lindley each had over 4 assists per game. Despite the losses, head coach Matt Cohen was pleased with the lady spikers effort saying, “Overall a good day. We played nationally ranked Western Nebraska real tough”.

Yavapai finishes the tournament with Northwest College, WY Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM.
