Bailey Accepts New Position
The Roughrider baseball team has announced that Assistant Coach Brandon Bailey has accepted an assistant coaching position at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. The institution is a member of the Lone Star Conference an, NCAA Division II affiliate.
Bailey spent two seasons with the Roughriders serving as the pitching coach in both years. The Colorado native was an instrumental part of two consecutive ACCAC championships (2009-2010). During that time, the Roughriders were 89-32. Bailey tutored the likes of Rick Anton, Dustin Hobbs, Pulama Silva, Merrill Kelley and Tyler Bremer.
Head Coach Sky Smeltzer said of Bailey, “We are sorry to see Brandon go. He has contributed much to the success of the baseball program these past two seasons. At the same time, we are excited for his new position and wish him much success and know that he will be a great benefit to Tarleton State.”
Bailey joins Head Coach Bryan Conger at Tarleton State. This past season the Texans finished with a 26-25 overall record and fell in the third round of the Lone Star Conference post-season tournament to Angelo State College, 11-3. He will inherit a young team with only 8 returning players.
