Roughrider Academic All-Americans
On Thursday, the NJCAA announced the 2010 Academic All-Americans. Three Roughriders were represented for their dedication to their sport and their academics.
Named as a Distinguished Academic All-American was women’s basketball player Julianne Forte`. The Music Major carried a 3.93 GPA. Carrying the Academic All-American status was baseball player Zach Haley (3.72) and soccer player Michael Moran (3.79).
NJCAA ACADEMIC AWARDS CRITERIA
Academic All-American nominees must meet each of the following criteria:
1. Must have completed three full-time semesters or four full-time quarters of college work.
2. Must have participated in at least one season at the varsity level at the college from which he/she is nominated.
3. Nomination must be made during academic year in which participation occurred.
4. Following grade point averages must be met:
a. 3.80 or better on a 4.00 scale for 60 quarter hours or 45 semester hours for Distinguished Academic All-American.
b. 3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale for 60 quarter hours or 45 semester hours for Academic All-American.
