Roughrider Draftees Continued
On the second day of the Major League Baseball Draft, five former and current Roughriders were selected by professional teams.
Pitcher Merrill Kelly was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 8th round. Outfielder Kole Calhoun was also selected in the 8th round by the Los Angeles Angels. Both players are currently playing for the #1 ranked Arizona State University Sun Devils. Pitcher Dustin Hobbs finishes off a stellar season by being selected in the 21st round by the New York Yankees. DeMarcus Tidwell was picked up in the 28th round by the Cleveland Indians.
On the third day of the MLB Draft, pitcher Tyler Bremer was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 36th round. Pitcher Parker Markel was chosen in the 39th round by the Tampa Bay Rays. Pitcher Casey Upperman was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 47th round. Outfielder/Pitcher James Dykstra was chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the 50th round.
