Rider Softball To Regionals

The #6 ranked Roughrider softball team fell short of their bid to host their 2nd consecutive NJCAA Region I Division I playoff series with a Tuesday afternoon split against #4 ranked Pima Community College. The Aztecs stole the opener 6-3 and YC bounced back in the nightcap, 5-2. The doubleheader is the final home games of the 2010 season. Yavapai finishes the regular season with a 47-14 overall record and 24-8 in the ACCAC. Pima is 60-10 overall and 26-6.

In the opener, Audrey Workman (25-8) allowed 5 earned runs to take the loss. Brittany Keiser was 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Danielle Muniz was 2 for 3 with 2 runs knocked in and Ashley Snedeker was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

In the second game, Christina Hagberg (2-1) tossed a 4 hitter to get her second win of the year. Keiser continued her torrid hitting going 2 for 3 with a run scored. Emily Cooper was 3 for 3 with a run scored and 2 runs batted in. Molly Brossart was 2 for 3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Muniz and Kylie Morin each collected a hit.

Yavapai begins regional play on Friday, May 7th in Tucson. Times have yet to be determined.
