Softball Splits Doubleheader
A week after sweeping Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, the #3 ranked Roughrider softball team split a home doubleheader against the Gila Monsters Saturday afternoon with YC winning the first game 7-6 and falling in the second game 4-1. Yavapai is now 44-13 overall and 21-5 in conferenc action.
The Roughrider scored 4 runs in the first inning of the opener and outlasted the opponent to get the 1-run victory. Audrey Workman got the complete game victory, her 23rd of the year and six Roughrider batters got two hits or more on the offensive side. Maranda Tapia was a perfect 3 for 3. Danielle Muniz was 3 for 4 with 4 runs batted in.
The offense could only muster up 1 run on 7 hits in the nightcap. Alex Landon got the loss despite allowing only 1 earned run. Ashley Snedeker provided the only run for YC with a home run.
