Irving Garcia Signs With New York

Former Roughrider Irving Garcia, picked by New York in the fourth round of the MLS Super Draft, has signed with the New York Red Bulls (MLS). He helped UC- Irvine win two-straight Big West Conference titles and led the league in points and assists, earning the Big West Offensive Player of the year. Garcia was a key member of the 2006 and 2007 Yavapai College Soccer Teams. In his sophomore year, he led the Roughriders to the 2007 NJCAA National Championship and was on the NJCAA and NSCAA All-America teams that season. Yavapai College Head Coach Mike Pantalione signed Garcia out of San Luis High School (Arizona).

The 2010 MLS season kicks off Wednesday night with Seattle hosting Philadelphia.
