YC Sweeps Awards

The Roughrider softball team swept the ACCAC awards this past week as Molly Brossart and Audrey Workman were named ACCAC Division I Batter and Pitcher of the week respectively. Both players led the Yavapai to a 5-1 record last week. YC is currently 33-8 overall and 12-2 in league play.

Brossart batted a whopping .588 on the week. The Tucson sophomore had three doubles, two home runs and 8 RBI’s. Brossart is hitting .455 for the season and is third in the conference with nine round-trippers.

Audrey Workman becomes the second YC pitcher to garner the weekly honor. In February, Alex Landon won the award. Workman, a Ball State University signee, was 5-1 on the week. The reigning NJCAA Region I Division I MVP gave up only seven earned runs in 25 innings. She walked ten and struck out 45 opponent batters giving her 171 on the season.

Yavapai returns to the diamond on Thursday, March 25 at Central Arizona College. In their last meeting, CAC edged the Riders 3-2 in a non-conference affair. The first pitch will be thrown at 2:00 PM.
