Softball 7-1 In Tourney

In a weekend full of softball, the Roughrider women’s team came away from the Phoenix College Spring Classic with a 7-1 overall record. Yavapai improves to 28-7 overall and resumes conference play on Tuesday, March 16th.

After winning two ball games on Friday, YC added three more victories on Saturday against Monroe CC, NY (5-0), Triton CC, IL (13-0 and Delta College, MI (9-0). Audrey Workman picked up two victories from the mound and Alex Landon scored the other victory for the Roughriders. Molly Brossart had a monster day from the plate going 5 for 7 with 2 home runs and 6 runs batted in. Vanessa House was 4 for 7, Danielle Muniz was 4 for 6 with a home run and 4 RBI’s and Ashley Snedeker was 6 for 11.

On Sunday, YC concluded the tournament winning 2 games and losing 1. The Riders beat fellow conference foes Glendale Community College, 2-1, and Mesa Community College, 9-1. YC fell in the final game of the day to Central Arizona College, 3-2. Workman picked up her third win of the tourney (13-4) and Alex Landon won one and lost one (15-2). Kirsten Lambertson had the hot bat on the day collecting 3 hits with a home run and 3 RBI’s.

Yavapai returns to the diamond and league play on Tuesday, March 16th hosting Scottsdale Community College. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM.
