Softball Splits Twinbill
The Roughrider softball team split a Saturday doubleheader against the visiting Bears from Phoenix College. YC won the opener 6-1 and fell in the nightcap 12-5. Yavapai’s record is 21-6 overall and 10-2 in the ACCAC.
Audrey Workman got the victory (8-4) throwing all seven innings. The right-hander allowed only 2 hits while striking out 8 batters.
Emily Cooper provided some punch for the offense going 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, 2 runs scored and 4 runs knocked in. Ashley Snedeker was 3 for 4 with a triple and Danielle Muniz was 2 for 3 with a run scored and one RBI.
In the second game, Alex Landon got her first loss of the season giving up 7 earned runs and 12 hits in 4 innings pitched. Offensively, Brittany Keiser was 4 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Cooper was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Muniz hit a home run and knocked in 3 runs. Vanessa House collected 2 hits.
Yavapai takes a break from conference play entertaining Mott Community College, MI on Tuesday, March 9th at Roughrider Park. Game times are 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
