#9, #15 Split

The #9 ranked Roughrider baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Roughrider Park against #15 ranked Cochise College. YC dropped the first game 4-2 after relinquishing the lead in the seventh inning and bounced back in the nightcap blanking the Apaches 7-0.

Pulama Silva took his first loss on the season as he gave up 2 earned runs in 1 and 1/3 innings pitched. Tyler Bremer started the game allowing only 2 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 7.

DeMarcus Tidwell was 3 for 4 and Ty Forney and Cam Schiller were 2 for 4.

In the second game, Casey Upperman and Parker Markel combined for a 9 hit shutout. Upperman recorded 11 strikeouts. Cam Brown was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in and Steven Bier had 2 hits including a home run and 2 RBI’s.

The Roughriders return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 9th at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix.
