Lady Hoopsters Drop Finale

The Lady Rider basketball team fell to the #7 ranked Central Arizona College Friday night in the Storm Center 79-66 in the regular season finale. Yavapai concludes the regular season at 17-12 overall and 15-7 in the ACCAC.

Central Arizona led the Roughriders at halftime 38-32 and YC would close the margin to 45-43 with 14 minutes remaining. The defending national champions pulled away in the waning minutes to finish the conference season undefeated (22-0).

Yavapai played the final 30 minutes without starting forward DeAndra Adsitt who left the game with a broken nose and will be out for the remainder of the NJCAA playoffs. Lerrin Cook and Kira DeMorales led the lady hoopsters with 17 points a piece and Julianne Forte` added 15.

Yavapai begins Region I playoffs at home on Wednesday, March 3rd against Arizona Western College. In November, Yavapai lost to the Matadors in double overtime 88-85. Last month, YC avenged that loss with a 54-50 victory in Prescott. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM in the Storm Center on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
