Tibbetts Named All-American
Yavapai College Soccer Player Gene Tibbetts has been named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association Men’s Divsion One Junior College All-America First Team. The sophomore defender from Anchorage, Alaska becomes the 47th Roughrider named to the All-America team in their 21-year history. Tibbetts will be honored at the NSCAA All-America banquet in Philadelphia on January 16.
Earlier in the month, both Tibbetts and sophomore midfielder Gabriel Okito, from Logan, Utah, were named to the 2009 NJCAA All-America team. Both players were key members of the 26-0-0 National Championship Team of 2008, the school’s seventh national soccer title. After capturing their 21st consecutive conference title, the 2009 Roughrider team finished fifth in the country.
