Women’s Basketball Wins In Final Seconds

Kiara January hit a layup with 3.8 seconds left on the clock to give the Roughrider women’s basketball team a 49-47 victory over Scottsdale Community College Saturday night. The victory is the third consecutive for the lady hoopsters and improve their record to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the ACCAC.

Yavapai led the game with 45 seconds remaining in regulation but the opponent hit a game tying three pointer with 18 seconds left on the clock. After a YC timeout, January found an open lane for the game winner.

The Lady Riders shot a dismal 33% from the field but held the Lady Artichokes to 26% shooting.

Kira DeMorales led the Roughriders in scoring with 14. Lerrin Cook and Julianne Forte` each had 8.

Yavapai takes a break from conference play on Monday evening entertaining Lake Region College, ND. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
