YC SOCCER: NJCAA REGION I CHAMPS

The Yavapai College soccer team scored two early goals en route to a 2-0 win over Arizona Western College Saturday night at Ken Lindley Field to capture their 19th NJCAA Region I Championship since 1990. As a result of the victory, the Roughriders will be making their 19th trip to the NJCAA National Tournament beginning on November 19th in Trenton, New Jersey.

7th minute – Kyle Woodson assisted by Gabriel Okito
20th minute – Jonathan Castro assisted by Drew Russell.
Defense was the difference this night. Michael Moran played all 90 minutes in goal to record the 12th shutout of the season for Yavapai. YC is now 18-4-0 and improve their overall home record to 223-6-1. In Region play, head coach Mike Pantalione’s teams have accumulated an unprecedented 37-1 overall record. Additionally, YC has never lost a post-season home game in this decade and have only lost 2 regular season matches in the same amount of time.
