Soccer Blasts Pima
Yavapai rolled to a convincing 5-0 victory Wednesday night at Ken Lindley Field over #8 ranked Pima Community College to inch closer to their 21st consecutive conference title. The win guarantees the Roughriders a first round bye in the NJCAA Region I playoffs. YC will open the playoffs at home on Thursday, October 29th at 6:00 PM. Yavapai is now 16-3-0 in the ACCAC standings and Pima falls to 14-4-1.
In the last four games, YC has outscored their opponents by a score of 30-4. The Roughrider defense has recorded eleven shutouts on the season. Goalkeeper Michael Moran, a Tucson native, played all 90 minutes in goal Wednesday for the shutout. David Malloy, the scoring leader in the ACCAC (50), knocked in his 20th and 21st goals of the season and added an assist. Rodolfo Godinez had two assists in the win.

The regular season finale will be played on Saturday, October 24th at Arizona Western College (13-4-2) in Yuma. In their first meeting of the season, the Roughriders beat the Matadors 5-1. On Wednesday night, AWC beat Chandler/Gilbert Community College, 4-1. The match will kick-off at 6:00 PM.
