Volleyball Flies Past Eagles

The Lady Rider volleyball team won their 23rd match of the season Monday night in Phoenix over the NAIA university Southwestern College Eagles (11-9, 4-1) 3-1; 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17. YC improves their overall record to 23-13, the first winning season since 1996.

After a wake up call in the first game, freshmen outside hitter Haley Shackelford took over and had 21 kills for the match. Freshmen setter Rachel Lindley had 36 assists and 5 aces and sophomore libero Kelli Heenan led the defense with 15 digs.

Yavapai resumes conference play on Wednesday, October 21st in a critical match against Division II #8 ranked Glendale Community College. YC is currently in third place in the ACCAC Division I race for the playoffs, a half a game behind Arizona Western College. YC has three games remaining on the regular season and AWC has two. Wednesday’s match will be played at the Storm Center on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott beginning at 7:00 PM.
