The Lady Rider volleyball team concluded a highly successful California swing by defeating College of the Desert Monday night in Palm Springs, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-17). Yavapai finished the trip winning seven of eight matches including a tournament championship. Yavapai improves their overall record to 18-9 and 3-2 in ACCAC action.
In Monday night’s match Jordan Anderson led the lady spikers recording 13 kills, 3 aces, and 1 block. Haley Shackelford added 10 kills and 3 aces; Courtney Mrowczynski had 8 kills and 1 block; Rachel Lindley provided 4 kills, 1 ace and 32 assists; and Tialei Agader had 1 ace and 16 digs.
Yavapai plays two pivotal matches on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd at the Storm Center. #11 ranked Eastern Arizona College and fellow NJCAA Division I foe Arizona Western College comes to town for a conference tri-match. YC will play Arizona Western on Friday night at 7:00 PM. On Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM), Eastern Arizona will play Arizona Western in the Storm Center and later that evening at 7:00 PM, Yavapai will play Eastern Arizona. The ‘Riders fell to EAC in their first meeting 3-0 and AWC 3-1, however, at the tournament in San Diego YC beat the Lady Matadors to advance to the championship match.
