Volleyball Grounds The Thunderbirds

Wednesday night, the Roughrider volleyball team won their second consecutive match 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-14) over Mesa Community College (1-10, 1-5) to improve their record to 11-8 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Freshman outside hitter Haley Shackelford led YC with 20 points on 18 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block. The Colorado native also had a career high 19 digs in the match. Freshman setter Rachel Lindley led the offense with 34 assists, 15 digs, and 2 aces. Sophomore libero Tialei Agader led the defense with 26 digs and also served up 6 aces including 5 in the first set.

The ‘Riders travel to California this weekend to play Imperial Valley College on Friday night and in the San Diego City College Tournament on Saturday. Conference play will resume on Friday and Saturday, October 2-3 in Prescott in a tri-conference match with Arizona Western College and Eastern Arizona College.
