Yavapai Scores 2000th Goal In Rout

The Roughrider soccer team scored the 2000th goal in school history and erupted for 6 second half goals en route to a 7-0 taming of the Cougars from South Mountain Community College (0-6-0) Monday evening at Ken Lindley Field. With the victory, Yavapai improves to 4-2-0 on the season.

At 12:47 into the match sophomore Gabriel Okito received a pass from Rodolfo Godinez and quickly deposited the ball into the opponent’s net for the 2000th goal. The milestone came in the sixth game of the 21st season in the fabled history of Roughrider soccer. The shutout is the fourth on the season. In Yavapai’s four wins this year, the defense has yet to relinquish a goal.

Two minutes after the intermission, YC began the barrage of goals that sealed the fate of the Cougars. Sophomore David Malloy had a hat trick in the final 45 minutes and Rodolfo Godinez added two goals and an assist.
